I’m new to Reformer Pilates where do I begin?

Excellent we are happy you found us! Reformer Level 1 is the perfect place to begin for Fitness Pilates OR if you need physiotherapy designed classes for Pain/Injury considerable movement limitations then contact our Physiotherapist here to start your Clinical Pilates Classes

I’ve done Pilates before but not Reformer, do I need to do beginners classes?

If you are free from any recent surgeries, injuries or pregnancy and have no limitations to movement, you are welcome to try our Level 1 or Strength & Tone Reformer Classes. We recommend Reformer experience before Level 2 – both for your enjoyment and safety.

What do I wear?

Comfortable workout clothing is best. Shoes are not required and grippy socks are recommended. We sell these at the Studio.

How often do you recommend a Pilates workout?

With any form of exercise, consistency is key. The optimal recommendation is 2-3 times per week depending on lifestyle and other exercise / activities you do in your week.

Current World Health Organisation activities guidelines are 150 minutes of moderate intensity exercise plus 2 Resistance Training sessions per week OR: 75 minutes of high intensity exercise plus 2 Resistance Training sessions per week

Can I participate in Pilates if I have back problems or other injuries?

Yes, infact Joseph Pilates originally designed this system of movement as a rehabilitation tool. We offer Clinical Rehab Classes which offering a small group class for those with recent surgery, injury or movement restriction/limitations. To get started with these classes you will have a one to one consultation with our Physiotherapist.

Will I be sore from my session?

That depends on the workout that session and your current exercise habits. If you are new to exercise you can expect some ‘exercise’ induced soreness. Being sore after a Pilates workout is not unusual but more often than not this type of workout does not lead to being overly sore.

Will I lose weight from doing Pilates?

Combined with a healthy diet, and other exercise Pilates can support weight loss but alone it will not.

Do men participate in Pilates?

Absolutely! Pilates was indeed designed by a man, Joseph Pilates. The Pilates method was designed by a man, Joseph Pilates.

What results can I expect from doing Pilates?

You can expect an increase in flexibility, mobility, balance, improved posture and overall strength, as well as a decrease in back pain/other general body pains. Many participants report not only physical improvements but physiological and mental improvements too.

Is it safe to do Pilates during pregnancy?

Yes for most healthy pregnancy exercise has many benefits for you and your baby throughout pregnancy. Please consult your healthcare provider and get clearance for exercise before starting our classes and be sure to tell the instructor you are pregnant if you are not in a pregnancy specific class.

How does the waitlist work?

If you are on a waitlist for a class keep an eye on your email. If we have a cancellation the first person on the waitlist will be added to the class.

If the cancellation happens more than 24 hours before the start time of class you will be automatically added to the class. If the cancellation happens LESS thank 24 hours before start time of class the first person will receive a text to ask if they are still interested in a place in class. Once confirmed you will be added to class.

You can sign up to as many waitlists as you want. If there is no option for a waitlist it means the waitlist is full.

Can I use my class in both studios?

Yes!

How to sign up for a class?

Download our app or book via our website, find the class you want and book on in.

Are there different class levels?

Yes we offer Reformer Level 1, 2 and 3 each level is progressively more challenging.

Our Strength and Tone and Barre classes are mixed ability – everybody is welcome.

What to do before your first class?

We recommend you double check the time, day and location of the class ie Groody Castletroy or Garryowen Dooradoyle. Arrive 10 minutes early so you can park and introduce yourself to the instructor prior to class starting.

What to bring?

Bring a bottle of water, maybe a small hand towel and that’s it we have everything else.

When to arrive?

If you are a first timer we recommend you arrive 10 minutes early.

What if I forget my grip socks?

We sell grips socks at the Studio you can purchase. For safety we recommend always to wear grip socks.

Do you provide water?

No

Do you offer private pilates sessions?

Does The Pilates Room have age restrictions?

Whilst there are no age restrictions you do need to be tall enough to work on the machines.

Can I participate in class if I am pregnant?

Yes we have pregnancy specific classes you are welcome to attend.

Do you have a place to store personal items?

Yes we have a shelving unit with baskets located in the studio for your belongings.

What if I need to cancel a class?

We have a 24 hour cancellation policy. If you cancel outside of 24 hours you class will be refunded back into your basket. However, if you cancel within 24 hours you are charged for this class.

Can I switch class times?

If you are outside of the 24 hour cancellation policy you can switch times.

Do I need to purchase a new membership at the end of my monthly membership?

For clinical classes you are signed up to a direct debit for either 1 or 2 classes a week depending on your choice.

For all other classes you purchase either a single class, or bulk buy classes in sets of 5, 10 or 20. You repurchase your classes when you are ready for more.
